Chaperones

Chaperone GUIDELINES

  1. Chaperone Behavior:

    1. You will not bicker amongst each other.

    2. If individuals do not get along with others please remove yourself from either the situation or the chaperone list.

    3. You must always keep your composure.  In no circumstances are you allowed to yell at students or discipline them.  If there are any disciplinary issues please bring the students to the director or his staff to deal with.

  2. Football Games:

    1. While we are at away football games, chaperones must sit around the perimeter of the band at all times in the stand.  It is the chaperone’s responsibility to make sure outside spectators do not make their way into the band.

    2. When the band is performing either halftime or pregame- if you are not helping the pit move equipment then you MUST remain in the stands watching the rest of the equipment/personal items of band members.  While the stands are empty YOU are responsible to make sure none of the student’s equipment/belongings are messed with.

    3. During third quarter the Chaperones must work together to decide who will stay with the equipment and who will go to the snack stand for monitoring.

  3. Competitions:

    1. When we arrive at a school for a competition, the band will fall off the bus into 2’s and we will go to the bathroom as a group.  Chaperones will walk quietly behind the group to make sure no one gets lost. While the students, staff, and chaperones are using the bathroom please help keep the band in 2’s waiting quietly along a wall until all are out.

    2. While we are in the warm up area please remain quiet and off to the side so the students are not distracted as they begin to focus for their performance.

    3. After warm ups we will line up and march back to the truck to drop off water jugs.  The students are responsible for carrying their own water. No chaperone/parent should be carrying their son’s or daughter’s things.  Chaperones will follow behind the band as we move from one area to the next.

    4. After performance, band will go back to bus, change out of uniform, and line back up in 2’s to re-enter the stadium for the rest of the night.  The director and staff will walk everyone to the area in which the band will be seated for the rest of the night.

    5. Once the staff lets the students off for the night at the competition, chaperones MUST WORK TOGETHER AS A GROUP to watch the stands and walk around the concession area to make sure our group is okay.

    6. At the end of the night, when the director and staff go to the judges meeting THE GROUP OF CHAPERONES ARE INCHARGE.  PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH THE ENTIRE GROUP AS TO WHO IS DOING WHAT WHEN.  YOU ALL MUST WORK TOGETHER FOR A SMOOTH END OF THE NIGHT!!!!!!!!

  4. Bathrooms:
    1. Football Games- When we are at an away football game the students will be escorted by a chaperone to and from the restroom.  The students know that they must travel in pairs and will be escorted by an adult.

    2. Competitions- We will all visit the bathroom at scheduled times throughout the evenings.  When the director and his staff are at the judge’s meeting, the chaperones MUST WORK TOGETHER to take the students for the last bathroom stop before departure.  THE BATHROOM STOP SHOULD BE IN THE STADIUM!
